Discussion of the name of the woman Chief Minister
The current Chief Minister Manik Saha was formally projected as the Chief Minister before the elections. However, it is now being speculated that the central leadership may reconsider that decision.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has submitted his resignation to the Governor on Friday. Talking to the media after resigning, Saha said that the governor has asked him to carry out the responsibility of the chief minister’s post till the formation of the next government. He told that possibly by March 8, the swearing-in ceremony of the new government will take place.
According to a report in the Indian Express, party sources said the national leadership is currently considering appointing Union Minister of State for Empowerment and Social Justice Pratima Bhoumik to the top post in the state, “before the Lok Sabha elections”. A right message should go to the entire country along with the Northeast.”
However, a party insider said that this change can happen later also because Saha has won the party.
What will be Saha’s role if Bhowmik is made the CM? On this question, a senior BJP leader from Indian Express said that the central leadership can give him a place at the center.
