Cold wave has once again returned to the country’s capital Delhi. People had heaved a sigh of relief due to the decrease in cold since 3-4 days, but now once again the mercury is falling down. The Meteorological Department predicts that in the coming days the temperature will drop significantly and the Delhi-NCR region will experience severe cold.
According to the Meteorological Department, today i.e. on Saturday, the people of Delhi-NCR will not see sunshine. It may remain cloudy in most areas. Because of this, the minimum temperature in the Delhi-NCR region can reach up to 8 degrees on Saturday itself. A further drop in temperature would be seen till Sunday and Monday. The temperature has come down significantly since Saturday morning. Fog also prevailed in many areas of Delhi-NCR.
Weather will change due to snowfall
Heavy snowfall occurred in many areas of Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir on Friday. Winds are blowing continuously. Because of this, it is sure to have an impact in all the plains including Delhi. The Meteorological Department estimates that by Monday the temperature of Delhi will drop considerably. Earlier, the temperature of Delhi was increasing for the last 6 days and the people of Delhi got some relief from the cold.
The Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas is moving east. An induced cyclonic circulation is over North Rajasthan. Light to moderate rain and snow occurred in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh during the last 24 hours. Light rain and snowfall occurred in Uttarakhand. Scattered light rain occurred over North Punjab, North Haryana, Northwest Uttar Pradesh, East Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
Light rain occurred in some parts of Delhi. In Gujarat and Rajasthan, the temperature has dropped by 2 to 4 degrees. Dense fog was observed in parts of Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Light to moderate rain and snow may continue over Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and parts of Himachal Pradesh during next 24 hours. There may be rain and snow in some parts of Uttarakhand.
Light rain possible
Light rain is possible over North Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, East Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The minimum temperature may further drop in Gujarat and Rajasthan. The temperature of Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, West Madhya Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh may drop after 24 hours. From January 15, cold wave conditions may reappear in some parts of northwest India.
