The UP government has taken a big decision to promote electric vehicles in the state. Now there will be no tax on the purchase of electric vehicle in UP and no registration fee will have to be paid. That is, now you can buy EV without tax and registration fees. Actually, the UP government has taken this decision by modifying the notification issued earlier. Under this, you will not have to pay tax and registration fees for three years.
Along with this, this exemption will be valid for 5 years on the purchase of electric vehicles manufactured in the state. At the same time, the government has also ordered the RTOs of all its districts to comply with the instructions with immediate effect.
100% discount on EV till 2025
According to the revised notification issued by Principal Secretary L. Venkateswara Lu, according to the UP Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy 2022, 100 percent tax on Electric Vehicle (EV) sold and registered in UP from October 14, 2022 to October 13, 2025 Discount will be given. On the other hand, the effective time of the electric vehicle policy notified on October 14, 2022, in the fourth and fifth year i.e. from October 14, 2025 to October 13, 2027, will not have to pay tax and registration fees in UP for three years.
On the other hand, those who have purchased electric vehicles from October 14, 2022 till now and have deposited tax and registration fees, their money will automatically be returned to their account. Apart from this, the difference in registration of EVs in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh will end with this decision of the government and the rates will be uniform in the states.
Subsidy will be given to customers for buying electric vehicles
According to the UP electric vehicle policy, subsidy will also be given to the customers for purchasing electric vehicles in the state. According to this policy, 15 percent subsidy will be given on the factory price of electric vehicles purchased in the state. In this, a subsidy of Rs 5,000 per vehicle will be given for the first two lakh electric two-wheelers, a maximum of Rs 12,000 for the first 50,000 electric two-wheelers and up to Rs one lakh per vehicle for the first 25,000 electric two-wheelers.
Subsidy up to Rs 20 lakh per e-bus
At the same time, a subsidy of up to Rs 20 lakh per e-bus will be given on the first 400 buses purchased in the state. Also, a maximum of 1000 e-goods carriers will be given a subsidy of 10 percent on the factory price for the purchase of e-goods carriers up to 1,00,000 per vehicle. Apart from this, the government will also encourage government employees to buy electric vehicles. For this, the state government will also allow the employees to take advance.
