Mumbai Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday hit out at Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, telling his supporters that the party’s ‘bow and arrow’ symbol has been stolen and the thief needs to be taught a lesson. Uddhav was addressing supporters outside his Bandra residence ‘Matoshree’ here before chairing a meeting with party leaders.
It may be noted that the Election Commission on Friday allotted the name ‘Shiv Sena’ and the symbol ‘Dhanush-Baan’ to the Shinde-led camp. This is the first time that the Thackeray family has lost control of the party, which was founded by Bal Thackeray in 1966.
Uddhav said that the bow and arrow (symbol) had been stolen and the thief needed to be taught a lesson. They are caught. I challenge the thief to come to the ground with bow and arrow and we will fight it out with torches. It is noteworthy that the Election Commission had allotted the ‘torch’ symbol to the Uddhav-led camp last year.
A large number of Uddhav’s supporters gathered outside ‘Matoshree’ and raised slogans against Shinde and in support of their leader (Uddhav). A source said that Uddhav asked his party leaders to visit the state and unite the workers.
