iPhone Assembly By Tata Group: Very soon you will have a ‘Made in India’ iPhone in your hands, which will also be manufactured by the country’s leading company Tata.
Tata group will acquire Wistron factory
Actually, soon the Tata Group may have the rights to assemble Apple iPhones in Bengaluru. According to experts related to the case, Tata Group is very close to acquiring the factory of Wistron, a supplier of Apple. The agreement is likely to be sealed by August. If this happens, Tata will be the first company in the country to assemble the iPhone.
Since this information has not yet been made public, sources told on the condition of anonymity that Tata Group will take over Wistron Corporation’s factory located in South Karnataka. The valuation of this factory is more than 600 million dollars. Negotiations on this agreement were going on for the last one year. 10,000 people work in this factory, the latest iPhone 14 is also assembled here.
Tata will fulfill Wistron’s commitments
Sources said that in FY24, Wistron has committed to sell iPhones worth at least $ 1.8 billion from the factory to get the financial incentive given by the government. By next year, Wistron had also planned to triple the workforce of the factory.

Now that Wistron is exiting the iPhone business in India, the onus will be on Tata to meet the factory commitments. Let us tell you that in the quarter ended June 30, Wistron had exported iPhones worth about $ 500 million from India.
Spokespersons for Tata, Wistron and Apple declined to comment on the matter at present. Apple’s efforts to become a big hub of iPhone in India will give strength to those efforts, under which the company is trying to transfer its technology manufacturing to India by removing its base from China.
Let us tell you that after the increasing tension between America and China after the Kovid lockdown, Apple had decided to shift its manufacturing from China to other countries.
