A drunken husband tied his pregnant wife to a motorcycle and dragged her for over 200 meters in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit. The wife had opposed his drinking habits. The incident took place in Ghungchihai village on Saturday and the accused Ram Gopal has been arrested, while wife Suman has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. According to reports, Ram Gopal came home drunk on Saturday and Suman protested against it. In anger, Gopal first beat him and then dragged him tied to the bike.
Passengers tried to stop Ramgopal, but he did not agree. Finally, Suman’s brother managed to save his sister and took her to the hospital. Ram Gopal and Suman were married three years ago. The couple had a love marriage. Suman alleges that only a few days after the marriage, the husband became addicted to drugs. Suman is now eight months pregnant. He said that they often used to fight over his drinking habits.
Ram Gopal’s brother and mother were present at the time of the incident, they protested and tried to save Suman. On getting the information, the police reached the spot and took Ramgopal into custody. Ghungchihai police station chief Rajendra Singh Sirohi said that on the complaint of the married woman’s brother Vaishpal, a report has been registered for dragging and beating Suman with the intention of killing her.
