What does the Pirámide de Movilidad say about how peatones circulate?

De acuerdo con la Ley General de Movilidad federalas with the Traffic Regulation, users of the public road must circulate giving pace and respecting the transit of people in the following order.

  • Peatones; in special people with limited disability and mobility.
  • Cyclists.
  • Users of the public transport service for passengers.
  • Public transport service providers.
  • Cargo transport and merchandise distribution service providers.
  • Users of transport of particular cars and motorcyclists.

According to these regulations, vehicle users, regardless of whether they have a motor or not, must drive to promote the safety of their journeys.

How do I ask what rules should be followed to pass a street?

If the people who walk along the streets have priority when it comes to using the public road, they should heed the indications given by the transit agents, as well as the norm that regulates their actions.

According to Article 5 of the Traffic Regulations in its section IV, peatones have the obligation to turn on both sides of the road before crossing it. This must be done with the intention of evaluating that in case you have a vehicle behind you, take the opportunity to reduce your speed and give it a pass.

In addition, this rule requires the person who needs to cross a street to make visual contact with the drivers so that they notice their presence and are much more safe when going.

Where do the peatones cross the CDMX?

The same Article 5, but on section VI indicates that the crossing of the avenue must be done above the corners and not to the end when the peatones pass through the main avenues or secondary avenues which pass with more than two carts.

If the street has a maximum of two carriages, users can pass through any point of this street, always and when it is safe and no one can stop by myself or anyone else who is most likely.

Article 6 indicates that users who do not travel on board a vehicle will take priority on the avenue when the green light turns on this benefit or when the light on this vehicle changes to red while they have started the journey when the signal comes on priority.

Are peatones obligated to use the peatonal plug?

Various activists have taken to the streets as anti-peatonal steps, due to the complications that occur to users of the public road during their journeys. However, people are required by law to use it when they have to cross controlled access routes.

These points, such as the central carriages of the Periphery, the Internal Circuit or the Viaduct, are of high importance for the peatones, so that citizens are required not to cross the avenues of this type at the level of the ground.

However, if this point is within more than 30 meters of the cross that you intend to go to, you can opt to do the maneuver without taking the bridge or slope, always and when there is a traffic light, a street or a peatonal step that allows it.

That the peatón does not include the Traffic Regulation is not an excuse to regret it

However, according to the previously mentioned norms, the peatón will always tend to predominate over vehicular traffic. This means that the drivers must always be on the sidelines of the vehicles they carry on their cars, motorbikes or bicycles in order to give priority to the user who passes by on foot.

This does not mean that users can walk through spaces that are not intended for them or can be overwhelmed by traffic regulation. If you do not have a sanction or responsibility that extends further to a race by the authorities, circulation in compliance with the law helps to avoid accidents.
