Pakistan launched an operation to eliminate tehreek-e-taliban

Government and police have come on alert mode after Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s increasing steps. It is reported that Punjab Police has started a major operation against terrorists in Mianwali area. Recently TTP terrorists had targeted a police station. The TTP had also claimed responsibility for the suicide attack in Peshawar on Tuesday.

According to the report of The Dawn, on Wednesday morning the Punjab Police has started a major operation in the hilly areas of Mianwali district. The decision to conduct an operation against the terrorists was taken by several senior officials including the Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police. Talking to the newspaper, IG Dr. Usman Anwar told that terrorists will be driven out from the areas of Punjab.

Why was the Punjab Police alerted?

On Tuesday night, heavily armed terrorists attacked the Makkarwal police station in Mianwali. Shortly after the attack, top officials held a meeting and preparations were made for the campaign against TTP in Punjab. DIG Ehsan Younis, who is playing a key role, said that highly trained police personnel and commandos of three zones are part of this operation.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a mountainous region

This mountainous area of 300 to 400 km long goes from Makkarwal area to the border of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Police has informed that the operation is already going on in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The DIG said that information has been given by the Punjab Police to the security agencies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, so that a strategy can be prepared to target the hideouts of the terrorists.

Peshawar blast

On Monday, there was a blast in the mosque located in Police Lines in Peshawar. 93 people were killed and 221 were injured in the suicide incident. The blast took place in the central hall of the mosque at around 1 pm. Police had informed that the head of the suspected attacker was also found at the scene.
