Uttar Pradesh | The man who shot a 17-year-old girl after she rejected his marriage proposal in Meerut’s Mawana area has been arrested. According to the police, the girl had a bullet injury under her left shoulder. He has been admitted to a hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Police have identified the accused as Rajan Kumar, who is pursuing a course in mechanics from an industrial training institute in Hastinapur.
A relative of the girl has alleged that Rajan stopped the bus and opened fire on the girl when she was going to her village in Mawana area, a police official said. After the incident, he fled from the spot. Circle Officer, Mawana, Ashish Sharma said that based on the complaint of the victim’s relative, a case has been registered in this regard under relevant sections of the IPC.
A team of police officers has arrested the accused and is probing the matter. Investigation so far has revealed that the accused had asked the girl to marry her and threatened her with dire consequences. After rejecting the victim’s proposal, he continued torturing her.
