Today, on Mahashivratri, the date of opening of the doors of Kedarnath Dham has been fixed. On April 25, at 6.20 am, the doors of Baba Kedarnath will be opened for the devotees. Mahabhishek Puja started at Omkareshwar temple from 4 am. All the rituals were performed in the sanctum sanctorum by temple priests Shiv Shankar Linga, Bagesh Linga, Gangadhar Linga and Shiv Linga as per religious rituals.
Aarti of Lord Kedarnath was performed at 8:30 am and bhog was offered. After this, from nine o’clock in the morning, the Acharyas of the temple committee sat in the Panchkedar Gaddisthal for the Panchang calculation. Kedar Ling was present on this occasion as the representative of Rawal Bhimashankar of Kedarnath. On the basis of almanac calculation at 9:30, the day of opening of the portals of Kedarnath was fixed and announced.
Bhajan-kirtan will continue throughout the day in the Omkareshwar temple premises by the students of the Vidyapeeth, the workers of the temple committee and the Mahila Mangal Dals. Four hours of special worship will start in the temple at eight o’clock in the night. The temple and the Panchkedar Gaddisthal have been decorated with eight quintals of marigold flowers.
