Apart from Rs 20,000 fine and cancellation of admission, if a student is found guilty in any case related to violence, he can be fined up to Rs 30,000. University management has issued proper guidelines regarding this.
These guidelines have been issued under the title Rules of Discipline and Conduct. University students and student organizations are against this decision, both the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and the leftist student organizations are unhappy with the administration of Jawaharlal Nehru University. Students say that the university has unreasonably decided to impose heavy fines for social activities like protests.
As per the guidelines laid down by JNU, action will be taken in such cases on the basis of proctorial inquiry and statements.
The rule will apply to all students
The university administration says that the new rules are applicable to all the students of the university. The advisory also covers several other activities such as gambling within the campus, unauthorized occupation of hostel rooms and hate speech etc. According to the university administration, a copy of the complaint lodged against the students will be sent to the parents of the students. will also be given.
