Congress MP Santokh Singh passed away.

Congress MP from Jalandhar, Punjab, Santokh Singh Chaudhary passed away on Saturday morning. He had participated in Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. His health had suddenly deteriorated during the journey.

It is being told that Santokh Singh was walking with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi when his heart rate increased. When his health deteriorated, he was taken to the hospital. Where he died during treatment.

Rahul Gandhi’s journey started from Lodowal in Ludhiana at 7 am today. The yatra was to reach Goraya in Jalandhar at 10 am. Suddenly the MP had a heart attack and fell down unconscious. He was immediately admitted to the hospital where he passed away.

Yatra stopped for 24 hours: After the death of Congress leader and MP Santokh Singh Choudhary due to heart attack during ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, the party on Saturday stopped the yatra for a day as a mark of respect to him. The journey is currently in Punjab.

Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has also postponed his press conference which was to be held in Jalandhar on January 15 and will now be held in Hoshiarpur on January 17.

Rahul remembered like this: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday condoled the sudden demise of party MP and senior leader Santokh Singh Choudhary during the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’. He described 76-year-old Chaudhary, a two-time MP, as a hardworking leader and a strong pillar of the Congress.

Rahul Gandhi tweeted, ‘Shocked by the sudden demise of Shri Santokh Singh Chowdhary. He was a hardworking leader connected to the grassroots, a noble person and a strong pillar of the Congress family who dedicated his life to public service from Youth Congress to Parliamentarian. I express my condolences to the bereaved family.

Who was Santokh Singh: Santokh Singh, one of the veteran Congress leaders of Punjab Congress, was born on June 18, 1846 in Dhaliwal, Punjab. He was elected MP from Jalandhar in 2014 and 2019 on a Congress ticket.
