Chhattisgarh: Controversy over hoisting the party flag at the place of worship.

In Kawardha district of Chhattisgarh, the controversy over the removal of the party’s flag at the place of worship increased so much that stones were pelted at the police itself. It is alleged that Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP) workers attacked the police with sticks, in which 16 policemen including ASP Manisha Thakur were injured.

What is the matter?

In Harmo village of Bhoramdeo police station area of Kawardha, some time ago the people of Gondwana Ganatantra Party (GGP) had put the party’s flag at the place of worship of the village. The villagers opposed this and said that there should be only a flag for worship. After this, on February 14, the GGP flag was removed from the place of worship, which was opposed by the people of the party.

Controversy increased over action taken against religious leader

After this, the villagers demanded the police to register a case against the religious teacher of the society, Durge Bhagat. Even during that time the people of GGP had said that if action is not taken against the people of the village, then they will launch a fierce agitation.

Attack on police and villagers

On the other hand, when no action was taken by the police, on Friday (March 3), more than 800 people of GGP gathered in Rajaanwa village and took out a rally with sticks and went towards Harmo. When the police used barricades to stop them, they became enraged. They started pelting stones at the police and villagers, in which many were injured.

Use of tear gas and force

The police released tear gas shells and used force to stop them. In this matter, SP Dr. Lal Umend Singh told that first the situation will be pacified, then action will be taken. The agitators have also pelted stones at the villagers. The injured policeman has been sent to the hospital.
