The Central Government on Saturday issued a notification for the appointment of five new judges in the Supreme Court. It includes the names of Justice Pankaj Mittal, Justice Sanjay Karol, Justice PV Sanjay Kumar, Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Justice Manoj Mishra. The Supreme Court collegium had recommended the elevation of judges on 13 December. After the appointment of these judges, the number of judges in the Supreme Court will be 32. However, despite this, the place of two judges is still vacant.

Justice Pankaj Mittal
Justice Pankaj Mittal is currently the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court. Prior to this, he has been the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Courts. Justice Mittal was born on June 17, 1961 in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He was appointed as an Additional Judge in the Allahabad High Court on 7 July 2006. After that, on July 2, 2008, he was made a permanent judge. Pankaj Mittal remained a judge in the Allahabad High Court till 2021.
Justice Sanjay Karol
Justice Sanjay Karol is currently the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court. He has been the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court. Justice Sanjay Karol is a resident of Garli village in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. He holds a law degree from Himachal Pradesh University. He was the Advocate General of Himachal Pradesh from 1998 to 2003. He was appointed as a judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court on 8 March 2007. After that, on April 25, 2017, he was made the Acting Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
Justice PV Sanjay Kumar
Justice Puligoru Venkata Sanjay Kumar (full name) is currently the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court. He has been a judge of the Punjab and Haryana and Telangana High Courts. Justice PV Sanjay Kumar was born on 14 August 1963 in Hyderabad. His father P. Ramachandra Reddy was Advocate General of the Andhra Pradesh High Court (1969 to 1982). Sanjay Kumar completed his commerce graduation from Nizam College, Hyderabad and law degree from Delhi University in 1988 and got registered with Andhra Pradesh Bar Council in August 1988. From 2000 to 2003, Sanjay Kumar was a public prosecutor in the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Thereafter, he was elevated as Additional Judge of the Telangana High Court on 8 August 2008 and made a permanent Judge on 20 January 2010.
Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah
Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah is currently a judge of the Patna High Court. He has also been a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Justice Amanullah was born on 11 May 1963 in Bihar. He graduated with Chemistry Honors and then obtained his LLB degree from Patna Law College. He was made a judge of the Patna High Court on June 20, 2011.
Justice Manoj Mishra
Justice Manoj Mishra is currently a judge in the Allahabad High Court. He was born on June 2, 1965. He took a law degree from Allahabad University in the year 1988 and became a lawyer in December 1988. He was sworn in as an Additional Judge on 21 November 2011 and was made a Permanent Judge on 6 August 2013.
Let us tell you that on Friday, the Supreme Court had given a strict warning to the Central Government regarding the delay in the appointment of five judges and said that all should be transferred within 5 days. After which, on Saturday, the Center issued a notification for the appointment of the five judges.
