Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has presented the General Budget (Budget 2023) for the financial year 2023-24. During this, Sitharaman said that this budget is the first budget in Amrit Kaal. Sitharaman has announced a budget of Rs 2.4 lakh crore for the Railways. This is almost 9 times more than the 2013-14 budget. In 2013, a budget provision of about Rs 63,363 crore was made for the Railways. In the year 2022, Railways got a budget of 1.4 lakh crores.

The trend of separate rail budget is over
Let us inform that since the year 2017, the tradition of presenting a separate Rail Budget has come to an end. In the first term of the Modi government, the then finance minister Arun Jaitley had ended the 92-year-old practice of presenting a separate railway budget. From the year 2017, announcements of railway budget started in the general budget. Earlier, the Railway Minister used to present the Railway Budget in the Parliament a day before the General Budget.
Budget of Jal Jeevan Mission
The budget of Jal Jeevan Mission was increased to Rs 60,000 crore for the year 2022-23. Jal Jeevan Mission was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15, 2019.
