Ankit Sharma case: Court frames charges against former AAP leader Tahir Hussain.

Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councilor Tahir Hussain and ten others have been charged with murder in connection with the death of an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer during the 2020 Delhi riots. According to the report of LiveLaw, Delhi’s Karkardooma Court has framed charges against Tahir Hussain on Thursday, 23 March.

Apart from Tahir Hussain, the other accused include Haseen, Nazim, Qasim, Sameer Khan, Anas, Firoz, Javed, Gulfam, Shoaib Alam and Muntazim. Additional Sessions Judge Pulastya Pramachala was hearing the case in the court.

Allegedly, the court found that Hindu houses were fired upon by the mob, stones were pelted and petrol bombs were thrown towards the houses.

After listening to the statements of the witnesses, the court said that the presence of all the accused persons in the crowd is proved.

As reported by Live Law, the court said, “Tahir was constantly working on ways to inspire the crowd. All these things were done to target Hindus. The aim of every member of the mob was to target Hindus. The behavior of the people involved in the mob shows that they were acting with their own consent to kill and harm Hindus. Based on the evidence, there appears to be a criminal conspiracy in this case to indulge in riots, kill Hindus and damage their property.”

26-year-old IB officer Ankit Sharma was killed during the Delhi riots. His body was found on 26 February 2020 in a drain in Chand Bagh area of Northeast Delhi. According to the Delhi Police, eyewitnesses told that Ankit had tried to mediate between the two mobs.
