Aarti Prabhakar, Scientific Advisor to US President Joe Biden, has said that India and America will come together to deal with the dangers of AI ie Artificial Intelligence. According to the PTI report, Aarti said that all like-minded countries including America and India need to work together to give the right direction to AI.

Indian-American scientist Aarti Prabhakar said in an interview to PTI, “We are working closely with the companies to make them accountable.”

The administration has roped in several IT giants like Google and Microsoft to ensure that it is used for public good and not misused.

He said, ‘President Biden is considering an executive order. We are working on such executive steps, which we can bring under the existing law.

PM Modi also discussed AI with Biden

Aarti Prabhakar said that when President Joe Biden met Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month, AI was also one of the important topics of discussion. From lunch to state dinner and addressing the Congress, AI was repeatedly mentioned. Let us inform that PM Modi had then explained AI to America-India. He then said that there is a need to work together on safe AI.

Who is Aarti Prabhakar?

Aarti Prabhakar is an American physicist of Indian origin. He spent half of his professional life in Silicon Valley.

In 1993, the then President Bill Clinton chose him to head the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Nearly two decades later, former President Barack Obama selected him to lead the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

In February last year, President Biden nominated Aarti for the post after President’s Scientific Advisor Eric Lander resigned. After getting the approval of the Senate, she is the scientific advisor to the US President.
