Nagaon Police on Sunday seized at least 18 kg of heroin during a late night raid at Jakhalabandha in Nagaon. After seizing the drugs, police said they were brought in a car from Nagaland and were worth more than Rs 20 crore in the international market.
Police have arrested one person in connection with the seizure and have launched an investigation into the matter. Earlier, a police team had arrested a suspected drug peddler during another drive against drugs.
The accused has been identified as Mridul Das of Kampur. He was arrested with 13 bottles of contraband cough syrup. The police have also seized a vehicle from his possession, which could have been used in smuggling.
